Riccardo Gorla Trophy – Centomiglia – ChildrenWindCup

REGIONE LOMBARDIA participates in the Green&Blue project with three appointments to share the wonder of sailing on Lake Garda

Gargnano, September 2, 2017 – “Our presence at the Riccardo Gorla Sailing Cup, Centomiglia, and ChildrenWindCup allows us to point a spotlight on the incredible touristic offer of Lake Garda as well as throughout the entire region with the Green&Blue project. The interregional project focused on outdoor tourism reaches across the other 6 northern Italian regions: Liguria, Emilia Romagna, Piedmont, Veneto, Valle d’Aosta, and Friuli Venezia Giulia.” Mauro Parolini, Assessor for Economic Development of the Lombardy region commented on the Regione Lombardia’s participation in three important sailing events this September on Lake Garda under the GREEN&BLUE project. With the participation of the seven northern Italian regions, Lombardy takes on the leading role to promote outdoor tourism.

“We are currently acting on a series of coordinated operations and events with the goal to increase the visibility and arrivals to Lake Garda and of Lombardy in general. We are involving the international press, web influencers, and the general public, who will all be following this important sailing event. Focusing on promoting active tourism – Parolini explained – means creating new opportunities in this promising sector within the European and overall touristic market, in addition to generating sustainable growth for the local economies and touristic supply chain in terms of linked industries and employment.”

Three great events centered around sport, excitement, and pure adrenaline to highlight the incredible local territory and its outdoor offer, experiencing your favorite activities in direct contact with the surrounding nature. In collaboration with the Lake Garda Consortium and the Circolo Vela Gargnano (Sailing Club), the Riccardo Gorla Trophy, now on its 51st edition, takes off from the 2nd to the 3rd of September in anticipation for the Centomiglia race. The following week, from the 9th to the 10th of September, the Centomiglia hits the waters of Lake Garda with boats from various nations in one of the most anticipated sailing events in all of Europe. Ending the series is the ChildrenWindCup, now on its 11th edition, from the 16th to the 17th of September, hosting the patients of the Pediatric Onco-Hematology ward of the Hospitals of Brescia.
Lake Garda, extending over 370 square kilometers, draws thousands each year with the perfect conditions for windsurfing, sailing, canoeing, kite-surfing, and immersions. It represents the best of the best when it comes to outdoor sports, boasting long cycle paths, a large network of paths for walking, and plenty of space for activities on the water.
