Gargnano - The events of the Lake Garda Centomiglia, the world's most beautiful fresh water regatta, will be held from August 29 to September 6, 2008. It will be a week full of challenges, festivities, theme evenings dedicated to the great food and wine of the Riviera dei Limoni, and concerts in the two ports of Bogliaco and in a special area south of the beaches of Toscolano-Maderno. The final festivities will take place on September 27-28 with the kids of the Children's Hospital of Brescia and the Associazione Bambino Emopatico(Children's Hemopathic Association).

Numerous Olympic Champions - Early confirmations have already arrived for the Centomiglia and MultiCento races. The first came from the United States, with the registration of the "Extreme X40" Tommy Hilfiger, once again helmed by Randy Smyth, a legend in multihull racing with two Olympic medals, 15 world titles aboard various catamarans and trimarans, the America's Cup won with Dennis Conner in 1988 aboard the Stars and Stripes maxi-cat, First Place in last year's Gargnano Yacht Club race, and his name written in the Records after Austrian Olympic Andreas Hagara (also confirmed for the race) and Giovanni Soldini, the winners of the first edition. On the eve of the Centomiglia, the Tommy Hilfiger will organize a special day with a Guest Star (motorcycle Moto GP champion Marco Melandri was the special guest last year). Olympic champion Carolijn Brouwer -- born in Ostenda, Belgium but currently living in Rio de Janeiro - will arrive directly from China, where she will participate in the Tornado class race at the Beijing Olympics (she will be the only female skipper in an Open group). Her tactician and bowman will be the former Finnish Olympic medalist Sebastien Godefroid, who won the 2001 world championship and a silver medal in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Jo Richards, another Olympic skipper, will arrive from England with his 11-meter Full Pelt, which he personally designed based on the Libera class boats from Garda. He also designed the latest product of the famous Laser shipyard and the Black 41, the 19-meter catamaran that Team Alinghi is using to explore the world of multihulls in view of the 2009 America's Cup. Participating in the Asso 99 Italian Championship, held during the week between the Gorla Trophy and the Centomiglia, will also be Luitpold von Bayern, the great-grandson of King Ludwig of Baviera, and the boat of the Yacht Club school, the glorious "Pigreco 3" that Franco La Micela donated to the Gargnano club. The Pigreco will bear the logos of "007 Quantum" and of the Riviera dei Limoni consortium to thank the production of the 22nd James Bond film for having chosen Lake Garda as the set for the film's beginning scenes and for donating a precious 4X4 ambulance for the northern area of the lake.

The 2008 Program - The march towards the "100e20-CentoEventi" will begin mid-July with the official presentation of the race. During the press conference, the new poster, the Centomiglia Magazine, which will be distributed by mid July to yacht clubs throughout Europe, and the new headline for the race (the world's most beautiful regattas) will be presented.
