Green Comm Racing, the Italian-Spanish Challenger to the 34th America’s Cup, announces today a partnership with USBound, based in San Anselmo (California), to support and coordinate the overall logistics of the Green Comm Racing Team in the Bay Area. The goal of the partnership with USA BOUND is to speed up the organization of the Green Comm Racing Team in the Bay Area: with a little more than one year to go, before the final phase of the America’s Cup will be taking place in San Francisco, it is of critical importance to ramp up the team’s operations in the Bay Area. USBound is based in San Anselmo, with offices in New York, and Verona (Ital): it is a member of the Marine Conventions Bureau, where Benedetto Cico, USA Bound founder and CEO, sits on the Board of Directors. The partnerships between Green Comm Racing and USBound is focused on a wide-range of supporting activities: (1) travel services, (2) long-term lodging for the team members, (3) corporate hospitality for the team corporate sponsors, (4) media and special events (5) relationship building with the multiple, local constituencies working in the field of sustainability across the West Coast. Francesco De Leo, Green Comm Racing Executive Chairman, says: “Today is a key day for Green Comm Racing because we announce the first partnership with a corporation based in the Bay Area to accelerate the transition of the team operations to San Francisco, the venue of the 34th America’s Cup. As a European team we are focused on building partnerships with multiple constituencies and key institutional players, to become part of the local community. I expect to have an office ready in San Francisco before the America’s Cup World Series event taking place in Naples (April 7-15, 2012). San Francisco is a vibrant, dynamic community, a city that has been recognized as one of the top three in the world by PwC (2012). It’s an inspiring, iconic venue, which exudes energy and commitment towards the values of sustainability that are the core value of the Green Comm Racing campaign. After graduating from the Ph.D. Program in Management at UCLA (Anderson School of Management), while serving as Managing Director of Telecom Italia, I committed to the revamping of the Telecom Italia Ventures Office in Battery Street, by hiring a few of the top local talents, and teaming up with the leading venture capital firms across Silicon Valley. There is no better place than San Francisco, not just as top destination site, as well as one of the best and most demanding sailing spots in the world, but as a multicultural, hi-tech community, focused on sustainability as a key driver of economic growth. The partnership with USA BOUND is the first step towards building up our presence in the Bay Area: I plan to be in San Francisco more than a few times before April to work with our local partners towards establishing our operations. ACRM and ACEA have contributed to build the new America’s Cup as one of the most impressive sport events in the World, and we look forward being in San Francisco, which is the best place in the world for world class sailing, and hi-tech and innovation. The lasting contribution of the 34th America’s Cup will go well beyond sailing, and it will inspire a new generation of innovators, which will be at home across the Bay Area.” |
