Dichiarazione del Circolo Vela Gargnano e Green Comm Challenge |

Abbiamo scritto oggi una lettera al GGYC (Golden Gate Yacht Club) dove esprimiamo la nostra sorpresa per le dichiarazioni riportate a mezzo tampa attribuite a Russel Coutts (Ceo Bmw Oracle Racing) e Tom Ehman (Pr Bor) relativa alla sfida tra vari challenger con i multiscafi. Il utto in contrasto con quanto affermato dallo stesso GGYC negli ultimi mesi dove ha sempre sostenuto l’idea di un evento con più sfidanti. Il tutto senza che sia mai pervenuto al Circolo Vela Gargnano ed a Green omm Challenge una comunicazione ufficiale sollecitata in più occasioni.
Come già affermato nel corso della presentazione ufficiale
della nostra sfida, confermiamo la nostra disponibilità a scendere in
acqua a febbraio 2010 anche a Valencia o in quella che sarà la
località che vorrà indicare il Defender “Alinghi”. Abbiamo dubbi che
questo temporeggiare da parte del GGYC, Challenger of Record, non sia
in linea con lo spirito del Deed of gift, che recita testualmente deve
essere: "una amichevole competizione tra nazioni”.
We sent today a letter to the GGYC where we espressed our unpleasant
surprise in reading in the news what has been stated by Russell Coutts
(CEO, BMW Oracle Racing) and Tom Ehman (Pr, BWM Oracle Racing), with
respect to the feasibility of a multi challengers, multi hulls
selection series for the next America’s Cup. We have not received,
yet, any official notification from the GGYC, though we asked for
their prompt acknowledgement of our challenge more than a few times.
We confirm our commitment to be ready by February 2010 to race in
Valencia or in any other location selected by the Defender, Alinghi,
as we stated on May 6th when we announced our challenge. We doubt that
this passive attitude shown by the Challenger of Record is genuinely
aligned with the spirit of the Deed of Gift which calls for “ a
friendly competition between nations”. |
